Tale

Love for music has formed Cristián life and his passion for it, has transformed the music he loves. A deep appreciation for the essence of music has been key to developing a unique taste. His style was transformed and his growth began when feeding from classic foundations into a very edgy ones. Influenced by Bach, Sinatra, The Beatles, Miles Davis, Rush, Metallica...

When he was 11 years old, at a family gathering, Cristián heard his uncle strumming a guitar and singing. The sound of the warn nylon guitar filling the air, and the haunting voice echoing the room, would impact his young life. He realized, at that precise moment, that this connection he felt with music, would change the course of his life forever. Soon after he began his bass studies, 2 years of music theory and classic guitar, under the tutoring of maestro Enrique Kaulen and 4 years with international maestro Pablo Lecaros. By the age of 17 he was playing live in local bars and events.

In 1990 Cristián Robles decided to study sound engineering. His second year, he landed a live gig with a Chilean mega event “Santana”, with a crowd of 70,000. It was his first gig pulling cables and he met his first mentor to be, Manuel “Nano” Stecher. Opportunities with his company, Stecher Sound, came soon after. For 6 years Cristián began working on big productions, acts such as Peter Gabriel, Depeche Mode, Metallica, Rolling Stones, Phil Collins, Sepultura, Living Color, Mega death, Kiss, Sting, Slayer, Charles Aznavour, Three Tenors (Pavarotti, Domingo, Carreras). Simultaneously taking on monitor engineering for major talents like, Chick Corea, Youssou N’Dour, Jon Scotfield, Jethro Tull, Baden Powell, Leon Gieco, Ratones Paranóicos, Papo and Marta Sánchez. The music and the lifestyle, of course, proved to be awesome. Above it all, the best part for him was the incredible experience of working with amazing international acts. Learning, growing, developing and mastering, a skill that seemed to fit him perfectly.

In the nineties, being in Chile, Cristián connected with Studios Master. He met producer engineers Alejandro Lyon and Jaime Riquelme, who introduced him to the studio were they produced albums and jingles. July 1997 opportunity came along to work with internationally acclaimed music producer and engineer, Humberto Gatica. Working with Humberto, Cristián Robles automatically was teaming up with world-class music productions. Outstanding acts, like: Michael Jackson, Barbara Streisand, Whitney Houston, Celine Dion and many, many more. Humberto Gatica, was working on the preproduction for an album for artist Myriam Hernandez. Having had such a great report, Gatica, asked Cristián Robles to go to Los Angeles, California and join his team for the production. Three months later he was in the mix with top scale recording. From rhythms sections to live horns or full on Orchestras, Cristián got to develop his skill. Day by day, he learnt from the best in the business. Participating in productions for artists of the magnitude of Michael Bublé, Andrea Bocelli, Josh Groban and Kenny G. Cristián meets and works with producer David Foster & Quincy Jones considered from the Top Five producers of all times. This is when Cristián realized, he was mastering the art of creating authentic "music production", and doing it in it’s finest form. For the past 20 years Cristián Robles has truly dedicated his heart to music and to mixing, as well as recording services. Los Angeles became Cristián's home, he has worked hard and his love and hard work did not go unnoticed. Cristián Robles has been honored with 4 Grammys and has been nominated 8 times. Dedicated to mixing and recording engineering,musical an executive production without leaving aside his passion for making live sound, and sporadically post-production and broadcasting.
